ABBIATEGRASSO CITY OF TASTE

Already inhabited during the Bronze Age, its name means, in Celtic language: place rich in water and with very fertile soil.

Taste also has deep roots in Abbiategrasso. Ever since the Roman Age, Abbiategrasso, has been a relevant spot, throughout the whole Empire, for the cultivation of cereals, producing excellent wine and oil and raising animals.

Between 1200 and 1400 the Visconti and Sforza families alternatively held power, and the city started taking the shape it has today.

Particularly from around this time date the Visconteo Castle, The Annunciata Convent and the city’s coat of arms with the Lion Rampant.

THE VENUES OF TASTE

Fiera (Exhibition center), Annunciata Convent, Palazzo Stampa and Historical City Centre: Abbiategusto is not simply a food&wine Fair, it is a widespread event enabling visitors to live the city, driven by taste for food, pleasure for conviviality and arts, as well as the curiosity to discover places near and far, through the culture of good food.
This year Abbiategusto’s theme is: the Venues of Taste, and each of the four historical locations will represent some of these.
